Here is a case of art -- in and of itself -- mimicking nature! . .
Discovered by John Paul Stein on the Invincible America Assembly (06/02/08 - present) in Building #111 at MUM . . Enjoy this "ancient" picture ... found behind a renovated wall at my university, and created by
a magic combination of mildew and moisture -- but not a single planned stroke of man!
Includes -- The "Canvas": Original plasterboard, stained and re-stained
by successive waves of mildew and rain seepage from an overhanging window and Nature's own "straight lines": Moisture-buckled surface layer of the 3/8"
plywood paneling pressing into rain-dampened plasterboard ... leaving mildly-angled imprints: "birch trees" and
"bamboo stands"
Note: This "Chinese panel" (time-frame of creation estimated
to be 50 years, or longer ... ) was seen for approximately one week ... and may still exist, undamaged, behind the
renovated MUM room paneling in Room #3 (beneath window). Kindly note: The black panel-glue lines, though applied during construction, later
became a special part of this transcendental forest tapestry.
Thanks is given to Robert Roberts of Alberta, Canada for this
photograph of "spontaneous art" in nature.
